What is this telling us?

Each spoke is a capital city that has had snow this year, snowiest first, clockwise from the top. Each ring is a month, January in the middle and this month on the outside, so the northern winter sits near the centre and southern snow shows mid-year.

How to read this

The number beside each city is its snowfall so far this year, in centimetres.

The legend

  • 1 to 5 cm in the month
  • 5 to 20 cm
  • 20 cm and over
  • Under 1 cm
