What is this telling us?

Each spoke is one of the 120 most populous capital cities, sunniest so far this year first, clockwise from the top. Each ring is a month, January in the middle and this month on the outside.

How to read this

The number beside each city is its hours of sunshine so far this year. Sunshine is modelled from weather data, so totals run a little higher than weather stations report.

The legend

  • 200 to 300 hours of sun in the month
  • 300 to 380 hours
  • 380 hours and over
  • Under 200 hours, a grey month
